Rules and Regulations for Goth Chat
Use of the chat rooms is subject to the following list of rules. Failure to obey any chat rules will generally result in a warning for first offense, followed by a kick or ban for continued misconduct. In some cases, as noted below, you may be banned without warning.
Respect Chat Staff and Other Users
We ask that you please respect users in our chat. The chat staff volunteer their time to help maintain a positive user experience and are not paid for their efforts. As such, we ask that you show them the proper respect and obey their commands.
Please respect your fellow chatters as well. Do not bully or harrass others. If you dislike a user for any reason, we strongly encourage you to make use of the red line feature.
No Flooding or Scrolling
"Flooding" or "scrolling" text or emoticons in the chat rooms is forbidden. "Flooding" is defined as using an excessive amount of text (typically random or copied and pasted from another text source) or emoticons to disrupt the flow of the chat, making it difficult for other users to read legitimate chat messages. "Scrolling" is defined as sending an excessive amount of chat messages which cause the chat to scroll too quickly for legitimate messages to be read by users.
Both forms of behavior are considered highly disruptive to user experience and are forbidden. Failure to adhere to this rule may result in a warning, kick, or ban.
Do Not Advertise or Promote
You may not use these chat rooms to advertise or promote your website, business, or personal ventures. This includes but is not limited to: website links, chat rooms, forums, bands, social media accounts, instant messenger alias, and phone numbers.
Sending unsolicited bulk messages indiscriminately is known as spam, and is illegal in some countries and territories. Disregarding this rule will likely result in an immediate ban from the chat rooms.
Do Not Impersonate Chat Staff or Other Users
Impersonating chat staff or other users is strictly prohibited. This includes posing as chat staff or copying another user's name.
This behavior will not be tolerated and will result in an immediate ban from chat.
Turn Your Capslock Off
Typing in a chatroom with excessive capital letters or with your capslock button on is considered "yelling". Doing so excessively can be annoying and make it harder to read what you are typing.
You will be warned by a chat moderator to stop using excessive caps. If you ignore this warning, you may be kicked as a more severe form of warning. Repeated abuse will result in a ban.
